Re: “Danny McBride told Stephen Colbert he bought a house in Charleston after Bill Murray gave him the hard sell

Since he bought a house here to live in part time, I see a new winner of the Best Local Actor award.

Re: “Veto-proof S.C. House majority approves roads bill compromise with 12-cent gas tax increase

The above comments are spot-on regarding misallocations, but that is what happens when government can't be properly funded to provide the services it needs to provide: money constantly get reallocated to other areas where it should not be in order to keep trying to patch holes (literally and figuratively).

Hyper-partisan politics have left us with a state and a nation that funds itself like a person trying to use band-aids for a severed limb. It's not a coincidence these issues are more manifest in areas that pride themselves on low taxes. People want all of the benefits of a properly functioning society but don't want to face facts on what it takes to make that a reality.

Re: “South Carolina and the compulsion to celebrate Confederate Memorial Day

You just don't get it.

The Civil War was not about slavery, it was about states' rights. Specifically, allowing states the right to continue slavery.

And the confederate flag is about heritage, not hate. Specifically, the heritage that teaches people to hate anyone who didn't support slavery and a treasonous war against the United Sates.

Re: “Spring-Cannon streets two-way conversion set to begin this summer

I'm glad Cannon and Spring streets have finally gentrified enough to warrant aesthetic and structural improvements.
