I work right near Chick's in the neighborhood. I was SO excited for Chick's to open; I love fried chicken, and I love donuts. I am sorely disappointed in the quality of their food. It is truly bland and tasteless, and desperately in need of seasoning other than salt. Frankly, I PREFER the $2.99 Food Lion chicken sandwiches- at least they marinade the chicken itself before frying. I never expected to say that. On top of it all, the donuts I was looking forward to so much are soggy and greasy. A huge disappointment, I really wanted to like this place, and would have gone there every day if it was worth it. I also tried the catfish sandwich, which was better than the chicken, but still very bland.
The fries are awful too- practically frozen oven fries! You can get much better hand cut fries at Moes down the block for much cheaper. WHY??? Why would they get such terrible fries instead of making their own?
The chicken and donuts are always so greasy I suspect the kitchen doesn't get their oil up to a proper temperature before frying, which is just a damn failure on their part.
I do think the reviewer's demographic comment is accurate and pertinent. This restaurant is in the heart of one of the poorest communities in the city and the prices are set so none of them can eat there. Besides, the chicken is so bland that I doubt any of the black community would even want to. It's white old people chicken. It's even worse than Zaxby's, and I hate Zaxby's. Why did they pick this neighborhood if they were going to cherry pick their own clientele by setting such high prices?
"Ryan Gosling just returned a stolen painting back to the Charleston Public Library"
I'm so glad he was an idiot! They only caught him because the security footage was clearer when he came back for more. And I'm even gladder to get some of my paintings back, at least! Police say they have a lead on the rest of them... Flame Nebula is still missing, though, so please keep an eye out for random space paintings being sold somewhere seedy.
A fourth painting was stolen this morning! Honestly, I am just appalled, both by the apparent complete lack of security at the library and this guy's audacity to not only just waltz in there and stuff pieces of art on free public display into his backpack, but COME BACK THE NEXT DAY! I posted another photo of the painting that was stolen today here: http://www.alizeykhan.com/paintings-stolen…
Weekly summer floods? How about every other day?
