Thank you to my friends for standing up and speaking out for me.
This article was written without the facts and without the truth. I don't consider it appropriate to disclose others business and will not go into the details. Hank and Perry know. I appreciate the customer loyalty to them and fully understand those wishing to follow them to their next endeavor. Unfortunately there has been much rumor and negativity surrounding their decision. I wish them well.
The property was purchased by me many years ago thru my good friend and Realtor, Cheryl Hardy, now deceased by breast cancer. The idea of a surf themed bar came from Michael Golemis, Cas Kowalski and myself. And it was built by us, and with the help of many friends... Crow, Ed Boudolf, Bubba Thomas, Shannon Garnett, Mike Grant, Mike Garrett, Coal Golemis, Josie Turner; and was "decorated" by the contributions of many surfer buddies...Steve Newman, Pete Burbage, D Ray, Foster Folsom, Danny Petterson, Ricky Koger, Captain Big Head...the list goes on but my memory doesn't, lo siento. The concept was never deep or complicated: only to have a place we enjoyed.
The Surf Bar will remain open and be a fun, funky, surf focused bar. Speaking for myself, for my friends, and for the Surf Bar staff please know that we welcome you to come and have fun.
