Thankful that our President has foresight and wisdom to stand up for what will inevitably become a simple civil rights issue.
jonathanpedwards.com -- Gay Marriage in SC
Phil Bailey has shown the difference between a liberal and just another southern "Democrat."
"Well I prayed about it" ... "But I prayed about it, too, more recently than you, and God has changed his mind...he just called me a few minutes ago, Peter. You weren't picking up your cell phone so God called me early this afternoon! Why don't you understand, Peter?" What a silly conversation. Very illustrative of why Republicans in SC cannot make progress happen.
Fundamental rights should not be left to the states. The Court has told us that the right to marry is fundamental. They had to make that clear against the backdrop of anti-miscegenation laws, in Loving v. Virginia. If you can't be denied the right to marry based on race, there is no legitimate reason for denying the right based on orientation. The people of this country have a fundamental right to choose who they want to marry.
It is wonderful to see these kinds of endeavors in SC. We must teach our children to be proud of their heritage if we want progress in SC.
