Hamilton is a turd. Professes his love of these idyllic cities of the Northeast, while laying around his computer and bitching about what we have here. Touts his admiration of urban transit and biking, when it's apparent to anyone looking at his pic that he couldn't bike to Krispy Kreme if they were giving donuts away. Writes diatribes in the Moultrie News about withholding Halloween candy from the neighborhood kids unless they bow down and profess their love of communist figures, thinly veiled as a Jeopardy style quiz show. And endorses (as well as sends his money and brainwashed children to) "a college" that once invited a Black Panther and convicted cop killer to give the commencement speech. You're a real winner, hammy. You should really look into taking your "talents" (whatever they may be) to Venezuela or Iran, where they'd be more appreciated. You, William J. Hamilton, are useless and a cancer on our area. The quicker you'd pack up and move to one of your Avatar-inspired wannabe socialist villages, the happier the rest of us will all be. Ignore everything this moron has (past and present) and will write. He has no credibility and is simply an idiotic sham.
I believe the media hype over Boland is that we're finally able to see the kind of bat-shit crazies that are committing these types of crimes. Boland, in her bond hearing, couldn't quit babbling about a smorgasbord of random nonsense, none of which really had anything to do with her intended crime. In the three main shootings that have captivated the country's attention lately (Giffords, Aurora and New Town) two of the murderers are dead and the only survivor (James Holmes) has been kept quiet and muted in front of the little time he's been videoed. There's no denying that all three were beyond insane, and like Boland, able to easily acquire a firearm (or several). In Boland's case, because she previously plead "not guilty by reason of insanity" in her threats to kill the U.S. President and several Senators, the "not guilty" is the only part of her pleading that carried any weight, and she was free to go about with her nut-job schemes. We do not need to restrict gun sales to the 99% of our population that is sane, but scared of the crimes being committed around them - crimes they read and hear about every single day. The majority of these people are just trying to protect their families. So then, it boils down to one issue - political correctness. It's not PC to label Boland, Holmes, Lanza or Loughner as insane. That's not nice, and in this world, nobody is held accountable for their own actions anymore. Even Boland's parents have blamed her mental issues on schools and her upbringing. And if it's not their fault for their mental problems, then they should have the same rights we have - the freedom to purchase and own a firearm... NO - that's just dead wrong, and we have to quit worrying about stepping on people's toes or hurting their feelings with labels. If you're crazy, you're a threat to your community and cannot be trusted with a firearm. What's wrong with convicting her with "Guilty, by reason of insanity"? Then she's got a label that fits. She's guilty, and she's also out of her mind insane. It's as simple as that. Had that previously happened, the Ashley Hall incident never would have taken place. But, instead, we'll tip-toe around the labels, say she didn't really mean those bad things she did or said, pass legislation to curtail and punish the rest of us from owning guns and continue to blame their mental woes on those that have/had nothing to do with their problems. In all four of these situations, the warning signs were all there for each of them and anyone could have stepped in and said something to put a stop to all of these crimes, but everyone is afraid of being labeled something - a bigot, a racist, a hypocrite... This, is the real problem, and sadly, I don't see it ever changing.
As far as the Walterboro shooting, it is very sad and unfortunate as well. An innocent woman lost her life and left her children to grow up motherless. The reason the media hasn't taken notice? It's Walterboro. It happens every day. That whole town is a war-zone and our entire community has just become numb to hearing "another shooting in Walterboro last night..." It's sad, but it's true. It's the exact same reason a shooting in Mount Pleasant will get 10x the amount of publicity that a similar shooting would in North Charleston. It's all about what people have come to expect, and with Walterboro, we've all been trained to expect the shooting to continue in Walterboro.
You're right, JLL. Absolutely - one of the top reasons we moved from where we were, to where we are, was to get away from HOA's Nazi totalitarianism (namely CMG). Hell, I'd take Spruill Ave over getting a ticket because someone saw yesterday's paper in my driveway today. Keep up the good work. As an engineer/designer in the lowcountry myself, I'll testify that if anyone is looking for a great realtor/builder, I highly recommend Jennifer!

Even though Sullivan's is also having their annual party, I notice it missing from all the local media ads for SPD. I'm guessing this is an intentional act to try and tone it down a little?
Just like the Beach Company expanding the City Marina out into the harbor (and subsequently selling the slips), I question how someone can sell something they never bought and technically don't own? If I were to go out into the harbor and rope off a section and claim it as my own, I'd be laughed off as insane. Somehow though, when these guys do this, it's legal? I'd wager some judge's pocket's were lined to help persuade this latest decision.
