LOVE these guys! I've never understood how come they haven't made it huge yet - IMO, the best local band around right now and their live shows are always epic.
I suppose it's a good thing - the best hidden secret in the Charleston music scene that we get to keep for ourselves for just a bit longer. It's only a matter of time...
To JR&TH - keep up the good work! You guys rock!
I'm not saying Walter Scott deserved to die or be shot - he surely didn't, and I hope the officer that commit that murder is convicted for his act. But at the same time, Walter Scott was no saint either and had he followed the officer's commands and stayed in his vehicle, he'd be alive today. You run, fight, brandish a weapon or otherwise attempt to engage an officer of the law, you must be prepared for those consequences. People forget that officers are still human, not machines - they have feelings, emotions, memories and aren't programmed to respond to every situation in a textbook way every single time. It may not be correct, but situations are ignited when people disobey an officer's commands. The surest way to guarantee you live is just to follow their commands. If you feel you've been wronged, take it up with the department at a later time.
So... When is the 2015 annual Elliotborough Block Party?? 2014 was a blast of musical events and festivals, and I have to say, D'allesandro's party was right up near the top. Last year's was exactly one year ago this upcoming Saturday - was really hoping to have heard something about the 2015 version by now..
Speaking of D'Allesandro's - does anyone have any idea if they're doing the Elliotborough Block Party again this year? Last year's was an absolute blast - it's been almost exactly one year, so am hoping I'd hear about the 2015 Shindig..
Most of these comments are about what I figured I'd see. To hell with capitalism, starting a business and hiring veterans - it's all about quitting your job to stand on the corner with a sign, looking for free money.
Why buy a firearm when you can be compassionate and purchase a crack rock for the less privileged? Or, help support these lower classes by throwing them $10 for a BJ in your car. Who knows, with enough BJs, these people may be able to one day own their own cars. Point is, guns are the devil and as long as there's an army of people looking for handouts, no one needs to be spending their hard earned money on any of their own hobbies.
That's what I've learned from The City Paper.
