Re: “Wrestling with the contradictions and immorality of abortion politics

obviousdusty, I am a libertarian. I am not an anarchist. Should government tell us we can't eat sugar, smoke, drive without a seat belt? I don't think so. Should government tell us we can't steal, beat our children and rape our neighbors? YES. LIfe begins at conception. Therefore government has a duty to protect that life as it has a duty to protect the basic rights of all innocent citizens, especially the defenseless.

Re: “Wrestling with the contradictions and immorality of abortion politics

Hmmm, John. Birthing a baby can kill you? So can an abortion. Read the paper lately? Surf the web? They just closed a clinic in New Mexico because they put two abortion patients in a hospital within 45 minutes of each other. Oops! I always love when men act like they care so much about women's health that they feign compassion as their reason for supporting abortion. So you're celibate, right John? Lest you accidentally impregnate a woman and cause her untimely demise?

Just had my second son a month ago. Did it natural. It IS what my body was designed to do. Forcing open my cervix and suctioning out my child is not.

Julian, human beings (following the laws of nature) reproduce after their own kind. That 5 week old is a new human being. Just because they are not as far in their development as a drone victim does not make their lives worth any less. To espouse otherwise smacks of eugenics. That you have to reach some arbitrary level of development to have worth. Is that level walking? Talking? A Harvard Ph.D.? What gives human life worth?
