You simply cannot go by what you read, what you hear and even what you see...did I mention what you read? Having eaten at Andolini's three times since moving here about a year ago, I was looking for something new. Most importantly I was looking for something non-GMO...and before I go on...actually...I don't even feel like going on at this point...Mellow Mushroom has the best pizza in town, hands down (imho)! And their food is "real" food and they even have a gluten-free option (which is pretty ok). Having lived in NYC for a brief stint, New York Style Pizza is in New York, period! Andolini's AND Sabatino's is only a step up from Pizza Hut, Dominoes and PJs...and that don't say much, now does it?
I read a lot of valid points here...just like there is no "1" truth - well, I believe there is one but this is not the appropriate place to get into such a topic - there is no "1" cause for this problem. But it does seem like years of complacency and the turning of blind-eyes bear the brunt of the cause.
While the 20-somethings are being labeled as 'this-n-that riff raft', we must be honest and recognize that, for one, everyone was young once and acted like they were and, two, there's been a steady decline in parenting for several years now...and when there is little-to-no parenting, then the youth and their maturity and knowing ANYTHING about living Life becomes the proverbial dice roll.
As much as I cringe at the reality of the matter, America (mainly those in-charge) has dropped the ball on a lot of things-- mainly Morals. And we as citizens have dropped our share of balls as well. Still, a lot of that has a lot to do with what the masses of people are oblivious to [unfortunately]. That's yet another conversation. But how disturbingly ironic it is that 'the microcosmic mirror' reflected such a brackish image on Independence Day, during a 'time'/an era in this country's history when It is anything but...[independent].
Sending Love/Light to Folly...like us All, They need it!
I've been in Charleston for going on a year now and while I skim and peruse City Paper as often as I can, nothing to-date has siphoned my interest quite like this edition (oh, and Dirt~the Lowcountry’s local food guide)...I mean, wow, it's been over two weeks since being published and it still - wrinkled, food stained, pages separated numerically out of order - finds itself stationed in an area of home space relegated for intellectual keepsake. And I tend to be hoard-averse.
Visiting Quashie's blog I was excited to see & read what had before been censored on the cover. Why censor it? The thing is this...in a country where seemingly everything under the moon already happens and exists, why not take the opportunity presented to move one step closer to healing instead of farther away in delusion?
Just a question to think about being that the brilliance of one's ability to expand perspectives on an endangered-species-of-a-topic in ways that "usually" only offend the offensive while defending those in-one-way-or-another-once-defiled is right here in front of us pleading to be further explored.
I'm just sayin'...
