Re: “Charleston's restaurant industry faces its drinking demons

Boycott the City Paper absolutely! I am a local musician. I played 312 shows last year in Charleston. I see the behind the scenes of close to 60 local bars and restaurants. Mr Bowers; way to clump an entire industry (by the way an industry that pays for your hack paper) into one group because of the bad decisions of a few. I knew Mr. Brunell and Mr. Miller and lost 2 Friends that night. I think its disgusting of Quentin's family to seek damages from Husk and not what he would have wanted. Adam Buenell is one of the sweetest people Ive ever known and his poor decision has ended his life as well. As far as the F&B industry. It doesn't surprise me one bit that your paper would print something they have know idea about, it's par for the coarse for you guys. I know you certainly have no idea whats going on in the local music scene other than "Plane Jane Rocks" (LOL not in a good way). You really want to be honest? I personally know numerous people on City Papers pay roll that regularly drink and drive as well as use cocaine more than occasionally. I also see the patrons of these establishments falling down as they are getting into their cars to drive home and hear keys jingling in every bathroom stall as I'm loading out every night. The problems that you discuss in your article are not out of control in the F&B industry alone but all over this city. Why don't you start by cleaning your own house before talking about how dirty ours is. To the people commenting that supposedly worked in the industry. I don't think because you, probably worked as a server for a summer, probably at some chain restaurant like Bubba Gumps qualifies you to say anything. We have some of the most talented bar tenders, servers, and chefs in the country! THEY are what brings people to Charleston not that weak as aquarium or trashy market! Don't bite the hand that feeds you City Paper!
