One thing these drivers are asking for is a couple more sick days. They only get 1 sick day in their contract now and if they need any more time off due to illness they don't get paid, so they work sick. How many people ride those buses? How many people do you suppose are exposed to the Flu because the driver (who only makes $10 hr) can't afford the lost wages and is driving them around in an enclosed space sharing that wonderful virus with them? How many elderly people ride those busses? Infants? These negotiations go much deeper than just money.
These drivers just want a living wage and to be treated like human beings, instead of like the machinery they drive.
