Re: “Will Nashville of 2013 be the Charleston of 2012?

Very well researched and thought out article! That being said, I simply don't think Nashville, glorious though it is, will overtake Charleston as the culinary centerpiece of the south (in 2013 or any future years). I've lived here in Charleston over a decade now, but have friends in Nashville, and am familiar with the area. There's just simply a huge difference in my opinion in the approach. I can take a stroll downtown here and find enumerate choices of all kinds, all mostly spectacular dining. And when you throw in a lovely sea breeze, the history, and a continually improving nightlife and music scene, I feel we're only going to get better at being the centerpiece. They're both amazing places, and I'm a huge fan of each. But Nashville is our home for country, or feel good place in the south. Charleston is our showpiece, the place that draws you in and pulls emotions you'd thought were long gone. For me, it's the same as it was hundreds of years ago.
