Re: “Interfaith group calling for action on wage theft

I joined Nehemiah Action in 2012--13, then did not return the next year because I didn't like their tactics of "trying to torpedo and play gotcha politics" and forcing simple YES or NO answers without clarification. Also, they told us to recruit several friends to come with us & coached us in tactics of not taking NO for an answer!

Re: “What retaking the SAT taught me about myself, my family, and my country

Re: Tom & Alison: Alison's commission is 5 %age points higher but base salary is $100 less. So the ?? is $100 is 5% of what? Or S x .05 = $100 , where S = gross sales. The answer is $2000.
Each salesperson sold $2000 worth of stuff, for which Tom earns $300 + (.20 x $2000) = $300 + $400 = $700, while Alison earns $200 + $500 which also = $700.

Re: “School of the Arts tweet exposes Charleston County Schools' hypocrisy

The school has the duty to "police" students' behavior toward each other because students are forced to attend by truancy laws! Even when they are "old enough to drop out," those who do or try to are subjected to a barrage of propaganda by their elders: "So you wanna be a garbageman, huh?"
Many schools (IDK in which states) have a rule that asserts their disciplinary jurisdiction over misconduct "outside of school but school-related!" Indeed, Ashley Patrick warned/ (threatened?) that '[feces] will drop' if the victim exercised her right/ duty as a good student to participate in class discussion!

Re: “Mark Sanford's awful day, deconstructed

Trident90 & Localhutch, Tupper did not imply that Mark Sanford is a pedophile! His/her post may be poorly worded, but I read it as saying that our electorate would vote for ANY Republican over ANY Democrat, even if the Republican were a pedophile!
BTW, I've seen the shoe on the other foot as a young man in Youngstown OH in the 1970s/80s where the voters were staunchly pro-labor-union & were called 'yellow dog Democrats' because they would always vote straight Democratic. Figuratively speaking, they would prefer to vote for a dog (or a Mafioso or a pedophile) rather than a Republican!

Re: “The holidays are a hodgepodge of secular and religious idiocy

I wished everyone a Happy Hanukkah during Hanukkah. Many people asked me "RU Jewish?" or "Do U think I'm Jewish?"
Now that Hanukkah is over, it's time to say "Merry Christmas!" I bet nobody will ask me, "RU Christian?" or "Do U think I'm a Christian?"

An experiment: Gay Pride Day is the last Sunday of June (June 30, 2013.) Late next June wish people "Happy Gay Pride Day!" Come to think of it, maybe we should say "Happy Holidays!" around that time, to cover Father's Day, the Summer Solstice, St. John the Baptist Day (June 24, big in Quebec!), Canada Day (July 1st,) Independence Day!
