Re: “Folly City Council considers ditching proposed booze ban referendum

We have enough laws. Adding one that has to be enforced by an obviously over worked police force is just dumb. If people do things that are against the law enforce the ones we already have. Drinking a beer from a cup on the beach hurts nobody. Getting trashed and starting a riot. is already against the law. Littering is against the law. Driving under the influence is against the law. Drunk in public is against the law. The list goes on and on we have laws flowing out of control. I don't think we need more. A few years ago I was on the beach with my kids and this wasted dude was stumbling around bothering every female on the beach. My friend and I both called the police, Public safety and kept getting the run around. It took an hour for the cops to show up. No wonder the residents want a ban. Improve the security presence. Fire the parking nazis and hire more Security folks, patrol more. I don't understand why everyone has to be punished.

Re: “What are you doing in response to Chick-fil-A's anti-gay stance?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don't claim to know any better what is wrong or right. I admire Chick fil A for having the guts to stand on an issue. Even if I don't agree with them. They put their money where their mouth was. Took the risk. And now the ball is in your court. Put your money where your mouth is. Every dollar is your vote. Personally I wouldn't call it a boycott, but I won't be supporting their agenda. I only crave Chick fil A on Sunday. This is the same situation as a few years ago when the BBQ place would not take down it's Confederate Flag. I voted with dollars then. I am a white man raised in the south, the flag is not offensive to me. I grew up with one on the wall in my room. I played football for the Rebels. However as soon as I became aware that the flag hurt folks, it was a no brainer. It was a part of history, and can not be removed from history, but I don't have to condone offending people. Vote for yourself.

Re: “The Folly Beach alcohol ban is a bit late, but it's worth the effort

I think that we have too many laws. If you are drunk and disorderly there is a law against that. Arrest them. Public urination will get you on the sex offenders list, unless you pee with the fish. I disagree with a ban. I think arrest the bad guys. The good guys will see that bad behavior is punished and act right. Don't add more laws, enough...
I don't drink, I used too. And would only go to Folly because it was so relaxing to have beer on the beach.
