Re: “If the Garden State can survive Jersey Shore, Charleston can survive Southern Charm

I wouldn't worry too much. As a fourth generation American from NY and of Italian, Irish, and German lineage I have heard about a great deal of sensational image slamming happening on reality TV. The reporter is correct. Wise folks will A: not watch that trash and use their time for better and B: realize these are stereo types - embellished and exaggerated for entertainment of ignorant peoples; as with any stereo type, there is a seed of truth, but it does not represent the majority. Any fool who will believe the ridiculous behavior you mention from the trailer as representative of Charlestonians can crawl back into their cave of goofiness. The rest of us will continue to love Charleston for its real charm, hospitality, great works of charity and preservation, and of course the delicious food. Hang tough! It will not last! Cancellation is coming soon!
