I think it's abhorrent that our fine city will be stained by a crap reality tv show. It's exploitive. BTW, nothing against the aristocracies of Charleston as they are our roots, but that part of Charleston's culture is NOT what has currently put Charleston on the Global map. Charleston has evolved and come so far in the past 10 years to establish ourselves as the #1 city in the world for PROGRESSIVE culture, dining, fashion, art, technology, etc. All this does is cheapen who we are and sets everything back. SERIOUSLY? So we really want to be associated with a hyper-reality produced TV show? We fail if it bombs and we fail if it's successful. When are we all going to stop thinking it's ok to "live vicariously" through these reality tv shows?

And to yebo2013's point, Fascinations (https://www.facebook.com/events/1097229458…) is comprised mainly of young up and coming musicians, dancers AND artists). This annual event pretty much loses money because no one actually donates. It barely got produced this year because even the epic success and reviews of last year's production didn't bring in enough big sponsors for this years. Not to mention Jenny Broe's company DanceFX (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dancefx-Cha…) have taken Charleston dance by storm the last few years. They offer a full range of dance modalities including Ballet led by (former CBT dancer) Stephanie Bussell. And then there's Sara Bennet's Charleston Dance Alliance (https://www.facebook.com/CharlestonDanceAl…). So there's THREE that all have ballet, who have EARNED a shot by doing things right.
Hearing a southerner pronounce Pecha Kucha is like hearing a northerner pronounce "Huger." I heard the real pronunciation is "puh-chah-tch-ka".

Great coverage as always by Errica. This place is awesome. That combined with the Party & Paint, 4 hair salons, Poe & Bashful studios & Greenway Art Gallery & chART, I'd say we've got a nice little creative village developing. I'm hoping SpaceCraft can help revive the DIY button making trend. I've. Den waiting ever since TGIFridays and Office Space killed it.
