Re: “Tim Scott's inspirational story is far from inspirational

Chris your view of the story is flawed. I am not a Republican but I do know that they don't look at the poor with distain, they think the local community can do better than the federal government with helping the poor. His story showed that government assistance didn't help him either, but his community did. Government is very inefficient. Just because Republicans don't want to waste tax dollars on programs, doesn't mean they don't support their communities. His mentor didn't need a government mandate that required him to take scott under his wing. That is what makes the story inspirational.

Re: “A flat tax will only exacerbate economic inequality

For 100 years progressives have had an income tax in place and things have gotten worse instead of better. Their solution is more reforming of a bad idea. The real solution is returning to a consumption based tax. A maximum amount of money one can take home is the most ridiculous idea. Two things that would do for sc is solidify our spot in the nation as a bunch of backwards idiots, and help the traffic congestion on 26 since everyone would move out of the state.
