Can't agree with this review. Went there about a month ago and had sub-par sushi and pho. I don't mind mediocre sushi for low prices, but my friend and I were extremely disappointed. We couldn't even finish the Octopus Nigiri. Slimy outside texture and inedible inside...seriously, could not even bite through it. Haven't spit out food in a Charleston restaurant in a long time...until now.
The table was almost impossible to eat at. Look funky and modern, but one small touch and it sways back and forth. You have to concentrate more on how you sit than how you eat.
I like the idea of this place, but the execution is horrible.
The burger is good (from the short rib/brisket/sirloin patty to the additional ingredients and bun)...but the price is too much and the portion is too small. You just can't charge that much for a 5.5 oz burger and then ask the customer to pay for a side. It's unfortunate, because the food is good and so is the atmosphere...but this place won't make it charging that much for that product. You can get the same quality burger for the same price, but bigger portion and side included at other restaurants in Charleston...especially Rue de Jean right down the street and Biggies (formerly Granville's) on the other side of Crosstown (just had their delicious burger yesterday...only $7.50 and the same size as Rue's).
I'm definitely biased towards the plight of the restaurant owner and having to cover all their costs...but they need to seriously consider dropping the burger a buck or two and including a side. Or make it a true sized burger so you can get what you pay for. I'd like to see this restaurant make it, so hopefully they make the necessary changes.
