I am far from a libertarian, and yet I disagree with Mat's position. I believe that bars are a special class of businesses, and that there should be smoking bars and non-smoking bars.
Let's face it, people do not go into bars because they are concerned about their health. Not at that particular moment, anyway. :)
As for the employees...bar employees face special hazards on a regular basis (bar fights etc.). People looking for cushy jobs don't normally go into bartending at bars where the clientele consists of a lot of smokers. And while I realize jobs are not as easy to come by these days, there are certain hazards associated with certain jobs (working on the roads in Mt Pleasant, for example) and some of those hazards are life threatening.

WTF??? Says who? What liberals are you talking to? The liberals I know, myself included, are incensed by both of these issues. In fact, I would say we are even more infuriated than we were 4 years ago. We didn't expect much of Bush, but of Obama we expected better. Check out Naomi Wolf and Noam Chomsky for more information.
Geez, it's like you think you can say "the liberals are doing this" or "the liberals are doing that" and it makes it true.

I have long suspected that Republicans are living in a fantasy world. You just confirmed it. The comparison with professional wrestling is especially apropos, considering the similarity in the intelligence levels of the two groups.
