maybe about time to let someone else try their hand at being mayor. it would be nice to see what just one other mayor would do, since he's been in what, 34 or so years?
however in the last 15 years, there as been a radical improvement to the downtown area, places i can go without immediate threat to my well-being, so i guess he can't be all bad.
they were probably asking because you or your buddy were twitchy or nervous to the point that you were not acting normal (aka, acting as if under the influence of a substance, which would disqualify you from getting tattooed).
if you were in another service-industry business, and someone asked you the same question, you would not have assumed they were looking to score- i.e., a doctor's office, or upon getting pulled over for speeding. all 3 situations would make many nervous and twitchy, straight-edge or not, seems unfair to assume differently because of the profession.
having a so-so experience is one thing- inferring an addiction based on your limited view of the world is stereotyping. ironically, the same thing you claim he/she did to you.
