I have to ask, why is it that artist's seem to always denounce those artist who are traditional in style to promote their own genre. The industry is having a hard enough time across the board to be anything but supportive. Luxury goods seem to be the first things people cut back on and the last that people buy after the economic environment improves. So, please be respectful of all types of art that is available in Charleston and be thankful that such variety and depth of talent is here to view in both traditional and avante galleries and spaces. Please I implore all who have the means to help support the local art scene to buy local at local galleries and spaces and keep this thriving industry boyant and future oriented. ( Are you listening Office of Cultural Affairs)!
Any art expression is welcome to charleston. The atmosphere in Charleston when it comes to art is fabulous. Anything that enhances the wonderful artists that called this town home, or exhibit in town is truly welcome. Charleston is fast becoming a mecca for the arts in the south east if not the entire nation and we welcome the new to town. If you want to see truly wonderful pastel landscape artists and abstractionists mixed in the same gallery I suggest you drop into the Hamlet Fine Art Gallery at 7 Broad Street Charleston, as well as being part of gallery row, Kellie Jacobs exhibits in the gallery and if you don't know about her work you need to do some research! gorgeous stuff and must have for your collection.
This is a great event and what is even more wonderful is the knowledge that other galleries are open during this event. Come see the art work at the Galleries of Gallery Row on Broad Street, such as Coco Viva or the Hamlet Fine Art Gallery to name a few. Charleston has a wealth of fantastic art and such wonderful artists and galleries to talk with and get to know.
How about the politicians getting there heads out of their you know whats and think about getting the business of the state and it's citizens taken care of.
The benefits they have from the power they have gained from being elected by the people should be utilized to see that those who elected them benefit too!
It is so unfortunate that everyone can't just suck it up and get business done instead of whinning and playing politics.
Kudos to Haley for trying something unconventional.
Stop wasting tax payers money- McConnell, take it like a man and get business done ( the whole point is it is NOT business as usual)!
I love Kellie Jacobs work at & Broad street's Hamlet Gallery you just have to go see it, WOW!
