Re: “The Charleston County School District board should be fired

The fiscal and other messes belong to the previous two administrations, but chiefly McGinley. Some board members, like Coats, are leftovers.
But the current superintendent has done some serious house cleaning - Bobby, Herring, Martin, Winbush. Some board members really are working to make things better.
The writer needs to stop the talk radio act.

Re: “Charleston GOPers: Abolish the school district

This is overkill to a real problem that can more easily be solved at much less cost.
For the last decade, particularly since 2007, the top down management of CCSD a has stripped power, flexibility, autonomy from schools, principals, and teachers.
Making undoing that part of hiring the new superintendent, rethinking governance structure could work a lot better than this nuclear option.

The licensed cab companies could do what Uber is doing. Could.

Re: “Outfitting police officers with body cameras is a bad idea

Many oppose the cameras as addressing symptoms nut not problems.
Pushing cameras assumes people just want to do bad things - cops and citizens - and watching them will make them behave.
That's pretty cool - living in a society where people have to be watched by government officials. In the end they'll realize they love Big Brother.
