Of course the service and ambiance were great, but I chose Magnolia's to take my girlfriend to for her birthday. Unfortunately, like others, my meal was not what I've had in the past. The meal was quite bland and forgettable. Unfortunately, since I am a local teacher, I have to make my trips downtown carefully as I have been priced out of most establishments. Her comment was we should have gone to Waffle House instead since we always know what we'll be getting will taste as expected and will cost 1/5 of the price. Said a lot to a born and bred North Charlestonian.
Yep...but as the "fashinistas" move on, we rednecks keep on keepin' on. Well spoke, Mr. Allen.
Excellent piece. I'm glad people like you are bringing this awareness to the larger group. Keep it up, Jeff!
That is awesome! As a lifetime resident of the Charleston area, I look forward to learning about this awesome historical and cultural tradition.
Good read, and I totally agree. Five guys does a good one, but try Matt's in Summerville. Stay away from "The Bomb" if you tend toward gastrointestinal problems, but their mix is good and the toppings are traditional.
Great story. Thanks for informing us of this worthy cause. I donated right away.
