Straightforward, incisive, on point!
Excellent work, City Paper. This is a perfect illustration of the Alice in Wonderland world of South Carolina government, where public employees feel entitled to bully citizens and the media, and where bureaucrats (on the public payroll) act as if it is an imposition to respond to taxpayers requesting publicly-funded and owned documents. Unless, that is, you are a developer seeking a permit to destroy wetlands. In that case, you are a "customer," and agencies guarantee the best service in the country. It's all about job creation.
It takes a seriously warped perspective to consider jobs for black and white people, local produce, including watermelons, squash and tomatoes, and a productive rural landscape "insidious."
