At least Will isn't a hypocrite about his feelings for Altman. Too often we laud folk over their casket when we know darned well we couldn't stand them. I don't fear the dead, they can do nothing to me. It's the living I'm more concerned about.
I completely disagree with this selection. Tara is no Ann Coulter by any stretch but she's no Richard Todd either. Her 'Liberal Latte' crack the other day sealed the deal for me. Richard was right of center and sure he'd get stuck on an issue or two but he was even in his contempt for both Liberals and Republicans. He understood that just because you call yourself a Republican doesn't mean you're a Conservative. Tara is just abrasive and loves to hear herself speak. I will always love John Quincy and Fred Storey but they can't keep me there. Charleston has a definite dearth of local talk radio talent. Hell, as much as I can't stand Rocky D, he's better than Tara any day and at least I can enjoy his show.
Thanks for recognizing a great shop. I understand advertising is everything in business but I can seriouslly tell you that there's no better comic shop than Soundwave.
There's comic/action figure/artwork auctions. Themed costumed events. Parties. Game Nights. And a host of other regularly scheduled events.
Soundwave is truly a Community Hang Out. We're a family and it's the only one of its kind in ALL of the Lowcountry. You won't get cake, food/beverages and costume contest on a random Saturday night at other comic shops. You won't see othe comic shops sponsoring a charitable Star Trek movie theater event. Other comic shops don't offer the level of customer service and appreciation that Soundwave provides.
Soundwave is a safe haven for comic/movie/music nerds of all stripes here in the Lowcountry. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!!
There used to be a cadre of us commenters on the P&C. Some would go over the edge but for the most part it was an engaging and engaged community of mostly local folks talking about current stories relevant to our lives here. Since P&C when pay for play, no one bothers anymore. It's either here or Live5's website (which could take some pointers from CCP for webdesign). If Pugh wants the P&C to become relevant again, at least online, he may want to revist the $online policy.
