City Paper is missing a gear...several open mic events in our area, and a growing trend for performers--like myself--who sing at several venues each week...I sing at 5 or 6 venues each week, typically, and see the excitement growing regularly. The events are getting regular YouTube coverage (see "Open mic at Parson Jack's--YouTube"), and Kinetic Hi Fi Internet radio has been broadcasting live from Home Team Barbecue on Monday nights at the Susie Summers Songwriters all original events...City Paper needs a columnist to visit all of the events and interview the performers each week! --Thanks for the opportunity to comment!
...Very friendly atmosphere...great chicken tenders...good sweet tea...Chris Tidestrom does an excellent job on Thursday nights, at the open mic event, and the open mic scene will certainly grow rapidly as the summer season comes upon us. I have found the staff to be totally honest and polite...sometimes, maybe some people are served based upon their attitudes...and what they deserve...so Karma serves it up...
...a LOT of good local talent from all walks of life are beginning to make a circuit of the open mic scene in Charleston...a regular feature column spotlighting a different venue each week would not only be interesting to the general public, since that is where a lot of open mic performers come from, but would also help the venues as well as promoting the local music scene!
