While each business is short on cash, we need to ask how did we get to the point of wanting to close the business? While not criticizing the Y for wanting to use it's resources wisely, we have to speculate that mismanagement of the funds contribute to the cause. Why did the SMART swim team choose to go elsewhere when they were paying the Y to use the facility?-because the Y kept squeezing them out bit by bit, but yet this was "bread and butter" in addition to Y member's funds. My kids play soccer there and still to this day we dont have any better parking (except for the gravel) and yet we have the Y at the PONDS are soaking resources that could have been used to repair the bubble and pave the parking lot. Megan is or was an awful aquatics director and encouraged me not to have my daughter's pool party there. We had it at the Wellness Center and my daughter was disappointed because it wasnt like the bubble. Now she is disappointed again because she wont get to have her birthday party under the bubble as we promised her after last year's party. Perhaps with a new aquatics director and some better guided use of the pool as well as promoting the use of the pool we could keep it running while not "draining" the Y.
