Re: “Early Bird Diner

DON'T try the catfish Po' Boy. An overcooked (previously frozen?) filet served on a big dense/doughy roll with a smear of unseasoned remoulade and topped with wilted lettuce. Accompanying side order of FGTs was mealy with tasteless but crunchy crust. Great iced tea. Other than the food being undesirable, I found the the place to be disgustingly dirty. You can just about see the germs crawling around on all the childrens books and toys. Overall, mediocre at best.

Re: “When and where to take your furry friends

I take my dog to a local, open to the public, beach and she can run off-leash everyday, all day within a 3000 foot stretch of beach. Guess where.

Re: “Deregulation will only lead us to disaster

"Regulations save lives, especially if there are enough people to enforce them."

You can't have bigger gov't without more regulations. Right, Mat?

Re: “The immigration reform bill's unspoken ills

Why does the author think 30 million new jobs have to be created to accommodate legal/illegal immigrants?

As she says herself "If there are no jobs, they won't come, and the undocumented workers who are already here and can't find jobs will deport themselves."

The current unemployed and future high school/college graduates and immigrants better have a good grounding in science, math or business or be satisfied with low-paying service jobs.

In the end, free market capitalism will create jobs for everyone willing to work for a wage commensurate with their skills, and not a penny more.
