Re: “Sullivan's singing ban is latest effort to chase off visitors

If you do not like living near a tourist area then maybe you should move to Edisto. Do you like living within walking distance of nice restaurants and decent bars? Do you think the owners should raise their prices to adjust for the business that you are running off? There are coastal places to live that are isolated and never have tourists. I am sure that these places are nice and quiet. These places are so isolated that there aren't any tourists and there aren't any businesses either. Folly beach now has the reputation as a "BAD place to get drunk". Actually not even really "drunk". It can cost you a hefty fine to have 1 drink in Folly beach. Catch the wrong cop on the wrong day and you can have much more than a bar tab to pay before you make it back across the bridge. If you get rid of all the tourists do you really expect your local neighborhood pub to stay open just for you? If all the nice businesses on your island close, what happens to your property value? What happens when the city must increase your taxes to make up for what they have lost? You can have it all....you just need to buy your own island.
