Helps to pass time when the TV rerun season starts! :)
News 5 just reported this on Twitter:
Surprise winner Alvin Greene now facing felony obscenity charges
hmmmm....I thought it would be Lyndsey Graham, not this woman :)
Quote: "The ability to threaten others, to engage in violent and incendiary rhetoric without consequence, to be viewed as patriotic and normal no matter what you do, and never to be feared and despised as people of color would be, if they tried to get away with half the shit we do, on a daily basis."
I thought you were referencing Obama's friend, Rev. Wright until you got to the people of color part. Read some of his "sermons"...available for viewing at a Browser near you.
The quote you gave is off topic since we were discussing the Constitution not the past administration. George Bushwas certainly known for not speaking correctly at times (I suppose HIS Teleprompter was on vacation then).
I wasn't a fan of President Bush so bringing him into your discussion doesn't matter to me, but if it makes you makes you feel better...go right ahead and I will probably agree. You have mistaken me for a member of the Republican party which I am not.
However your references to segregation, etc were intriguing so I would love for you to provide specific quotes, names, dates and references so I can read your sources. I like to stay informed on both sides of the issues so I can make decisions based on facts.
The Amendments you mentioned are part of the current Constitution and as such are Constitutional....as I'm sure you would agree, correct? Why would anyone who supports the Constitution deny what is in it? Only new Amendments would reverse those and I don't hear anyone suggesting anything to change the ones you quoted. It is more a matter of actually FOLLOWING the Constitution and Amendments that are already in place.
You ask for an example and I'll give one that is from recent history, ie the Obama era. Amendment X is one in particular that has many concerned. The Federally Mandated Healthcare plan is not a Constitutional right or Amendment found in any part of the current Constitution; however, the individual States could choose to draft and vote into law such a plan according to the Amendment X and that would be backed by the Constitution.
Yes, our country certainly has been democratizing since the 1930s. Whether it will continue or not remains to be seen, especially in the next few years.
