thanks for the charleston city paper for an enlightened article on the issues gay kids face.

we went to war over 3000 people killed on 9-11 and rightly so.

We have actually, per a psychologist friend I know, about 3000 gay kids who commit suicide every year because they are made pariahs in their society at an age when social acceptance is the prime motivator.

About 8000 kids in the USA commit suicide in total each year. No one knows how many of them are secretly gay. And some number also commit suicide because they are bullied and called gay and what could be worse.

We need to do a lot more to protect these kids and repair our society.

Southern religious morality. It included slavery as per the bible, and after the civil war, replaced slavery with the KKK and segregation.

And these anything but christians who always need someone to hate to sell their corrupt brand of love, have now chosen gay people as the new victims.

Forgetting how Jesus said there were only two commandments - Love God (not the devil btw) and love thy neighbor as thyself (not hate and demean his humanity.

Ignorance is bliss in the south. Mix it with religious dogmatism and you get the kind of hate and ignorant comments you see here from some of the bloggers.

BTW, other examples of the south;'s non-moral values include their terrible divorce rate. While MA, the first state to have gay marriage has the nations lowest divorce rate. And CT, which was either 2nd or 3rd, has the 2nd lowest divorce rate.

Give me a break. We love our gay friends. But for many of the southern republican right wing religious zealots, you are in our prayers. Repent your hatred. Leave your church that really terrorizes you into hate.

Or God will fix in the next life what we cant fix here re you and especially your church leaders
