Tom Clements is more deserving.
Taxed Enough Already, the word socialism has been tossed around so much and most people have no idea what a socialist country/policies entail. Socialism as a philosophy is no worse than capitalism...it's actually an inherently more altruistic philosophy than capitalism. Al Sharpton was saying that Obama is doing what he said he was going to do during the campaign....there are no surprises...he telegraphed what he wanted to tackle and how he wanted to tackle them.....therefore, socialist or not, it's what the majority of the nation voted for....and in actuality, he's conceded towards the center/right on all big issues. Now for Obama being socialist.....he's not. He's closer on the spectrum than Bush but he is still not there. The health care reform is not socialist....check out the UK's health care system if you want to know what a socialist health care system looks like.
Obama has no more a socialist agenda than Bush had a fascist one. It's easy to see who watches Faux because everyone repeats the same hyperbolic nonsense. If tv ratings matter that much, how come McCain didn't win? It is not an accurate description of the population. I can just as easily say that the top podcasts tend to be more liberal.
Truthrus, it would be nice to have a neutral place to go where people just read or write what is happening and they leave the opinion part out. Having said that, it's the opinion part that often catches on because people have opinions and they like them to be reinforced.....plus it can be more entertaining.
The Tea Party movement is far from a grassroots movement. It was pushed publicly on Fox where their opinion anchors made appearances and advertised times and places to meet for the rally. Also, conservative leaders such as Sarah Palin have been at the forefront....nothing home brewed about it.
Obama's health care, though as an independent progressive I don't support it because it's too weak, will cost LESS than the Iraq war, spare more lives than the Iraq war, and in the longterm reverse some of the deficit according to the CBO, which calculates both conservative and liberal impacts on the budget...people of higher income will see a raise in taxes (which doesn't effect the majority of the tea party or the nation in general) but the overall cost/benefit ratio will be a benefit in the end financially.
All this Tea Party talk of the constitution but where were all of you guys when Bush enforced the deceptively named Patriot Act....which actually does breach constitutionality and pervert individual lives with government oversight? Where were you when Bush and his cronies waged war in Iraq (which is not budget neutral and violates the rights of the citizens of that country as well as breaks international law)? An unregulated wall street has consistently shown to wreak havok on the economy and the same goes for unregulated health care.
It's funny to me that people let their political ideologies trump their religious ones when they are completely incompatible. Show me where in the bible that Jesus portrayed himself a capitalist and didn't extend himself towards the lowly or the outsiders. It's quite the opposite. Nothing says liberal and socialist more than the New Testament stories of Jesus. Ignore it all you want for the sake of politics and in the name of hypocrisy.
Actually TexasRed, the police did see and catch the person responsible for spitting on and shouting nigger to the black member of Congress.....he was let go because the member of Congress refused to press charges. Get your facts straight.
