Retired US AF Vet, love live music and live sporting events (Go Stingrays).
You all have good point, but to me, when 96wave went away, it was the begining of the end here locally. I had supported local music and stations for years and it all turned to crap when the good people were let go and the cheap, crappy personas were aloud to stay and drag us down further because they worked "cheaper". I rarely listen to local radio as I can here what I want when I want with no commercials, and get music news on the artists I care about on Sirius. I caught a local station running tracks late at tnight an called them on it ans was lied to and told on weekday eves were not live. Thats when I said to heck with it. You can even tell me the truth and you expect me to keep listening and keep you in business when you outright lie to my face?!!! Satelite radio is the way of the future so we might as well embrace it. Artists have long admitted that the only way they make a living NOW is by touring and they cant be more correct.
I used to love 98 Rock but since Sattelite radio has come around, I dont listsen much anymore. I listen mostly to catch what concerts are coming to town. I find they do miss alot of the new artists that dont get played since "local X" and Amy left. But its not just the new local stuff they miss. Halestorm is touring via thier new covers album, from which they did 2 songs on Sunday. Sick Puppies came to town and they couldnt even say where they were playing because they were not sponsoring the show. Saliva is coming to town and I havnt heard anything about that show, I dont mind paying for Sattelite because you can choose what you want to hear and dont have commercials. The internet and Sattelite radio are going to drive stations like 98 Rock out of business because they can afford to take chances and play new artists. They also cant afford to listen to what it's listeners wnat to hear because their Corporate office wont allow it. Sattelite is already playing new songs from Halestorm and Theory of a Deadman, and Stone Sour that you will be lucky to hear on 98 Rock within the next few months.
Great food at a Great price. Glad to see you at Stingrays games now...:)
