All of my friends highly recommended Poe's as the best burger in town. We went there on a weekday afternoon to try it out. I ordered a burger medium-well and my girlfriend ordered hers medium rare... two totally different burgers. When I got mine, I cut it in half and realized it was rare. My girlfriends was well done. I sent my undercooked, cut in half burger, back nd when it was returned it was the SAME burger! They re-cooked my cut-in-half burger along with the cheese, onion straws and BBQ sauce that was already on it - AND it was still undercooked (they couldn't cook it on both sides because of the garnishes!) When I called the server over to tell her it was STILL undercooked she said "Well, what do you want it to look like??" Needless to say, this was my first and last visit to Poe's!!
I would never want to win a photography competition that I had to pay to enter!
Bull Island is the proper name. It was named after Stephen Bull (not BULLS!) When people call it Bulls Island it's just local colloquialism... just like Belks, as Stephanie stated.
Who owns this hell hole? The people that work there are so rude and condescending! I asked two employees what the owner/manager's name is and they BOTH said "I don't know I just work here!" The food is mediocre at best and it's smoky, cramped and trashy looking/feeling. I felt like I needed a bath after visiting. I'll never go back to this nasty place.
Can't wait to see them again! They put on an amazing show!
Well deserved! Joan's blog is amazing and well worth the daily read!
