I stumbled upon this new restaurant while looking for a place for my date and I to have dinner. I would have to say that i liked it much better than Basil. My date had the Pad Thai, which was fantastic! I have never had such great Pad Thai. I ordered Green Curry, which was so awesome that i couldn't even leave some to box up for later. I highly recommend this place! Great prices and service too!
I love the building and vibe, but like the others, feel the portions are tiny and overpriced. The grilled shrimp taco had great flavor, but it was barely 2 tablespoons of filling on a tiny corn tortilla, not even warmed up for about 4 bucks. And, I still don't see the need for Guacamole as and appetizer with your chips costing 9 dollars...wow. No one has mentioned Yo Burrito yet, but i think they have great prices, huge portions, not to mention the free salsa bar with tons of great salsas. I would maybe go to Taco Boy for drinks and atmosphere, but i agree that the food is their downfall...not ideal for a restaurant.
I was extremely impressed by Evo. I am very picky when it comes to pizza, and Evo surpassed my expectations! I got a Pizza Blanca, and the Caramel-Sea Salt Chocolate Bar to take home. Unlike most pizza I have had, the crust was extremly good on it's own, rather than a flavor-less, doughey "handle" that i usually don't bother eating much of. It had great flavor, and was brushed with good olive oil and sea salt. The high-quality ingredients were evident in the pizza. I went there with a group of about 8 for a business lunch, and everyone seemed very pleased. The chocolate bar (one of the chocolates on the "dessert" menu) was also very good. The caramel was obviously hand-made, and the salt added the perfect contrast. Even the Iced Tea was better than I have had in most places...wow! I do agree that EVO is not ideal for most child-outings, but i like it that way. There are plenty of pizza shops with kids menus, cookies and chocolate milk. That is not to say that a child wouldn't enjoy the pizza, just that the menu isn't wrapped around mass appeal. As a side note, the farm where they get their pork is, from what I understand, a very nice local farm that is dedicated to animal welfare, and most other ingredients are local as well. I am always looking for ethical food, so this was just icing on cake :)
