Um, Ron? The First Amendment is in the Constitution, not the Declaration of independence.
@Ima Oldman The short answer about reporting my income is yes. This is not about the permit system or fees or taxes (which I SUPPORT). This is about tradition, and the fact that none of the "powers that be" will step forward and defend why they are doing this.
Thanks for the suport, everybody! Please like the FaceBook page
Glenn The Busker. I'll keep postin updates as I try to get some kind of response from Mayor Riley as well as Ellen Moryl of Cultural Affairs.
When I spoke with Sgt. King he mentioned the incident with the rude performer. I asked the Sgt if the guy had a permit, was he local, just passing through, etc. He said he didn't know or bother to check. He also made clear that it was his "higher ups" who are oin charge of wether or not the ordinance is enforced.
Sometimes we do get obnoxious buskers who do more panhandling than performing, and it was easy for the police to get them off the streets. I find it odd that it only recently became a "city liability" issue.
As if our state didn't have enough embarrasment to deal with concerning our politicians...Joe Wilson, please resign with a modicum of dignity and go to the talk show circuit where you belong.
