We love to eat lunch at Sermets, and for some reason it has always been on a Sunday. We love their food but for some reason their bartenders are terrible. We always sit at the bar, perfect for people watching on King Street. The bartenders are very unfriendly. Never greet you, never give you a wine list without asking, and seem very slow on service of drinks. I fully understand that they are also servicing service bar, but if Sunday lunch is always busy, then maybe an extra bartender? Didn't even get a thank you this time. It's a shame as the food is fresh and great tasting, but service and surly bartenders can keep me away.

I think its a shame that this food critic has decided to slam the offerings in this restaurant just because the bagels were not served the same old boring way, or that the mint peas were not for her, even though these two flavors are delightful together. Everything in this review is showing that this food critic would rather the restaurant would have opened with the same menu that most restaurants serve in this town - shrimp and grits, boring omelette station brunch etc., I for one am excited that we at last have a more modern menu on the Charleston dining scene and am excited to try it out.
Just what we need. More southern BBQ, she says sarcastically.......
Renovation? You mean they painted the walls? The carpet, chairs and tables are exactly the same. The lighting changed. Nothing spectacular.
There is an awful lot of defensiveness in this article. It is written with a perspective that white people are noticing people of color in the bar. The first paragraph alone says "that's not the only reason they stand out" referencing that they are not white. What a terrible article. I personally don't care if someone in the bar has a skin color that is neon green. It is insinuating all around that young women of color should go out and break down barriers. There is no barrier to break down on my side, and all of my friends would tell you the same! The more you emphasize what you have written in this article, I feel the more you make it an issue.
Does anyone know if this place is open yet? Can't find anything but this article on the internet. Thanks.
