It amazes me how intertwined racism and stupidity are. Even an elementary school kid knows that to look like a ghost, one wears an entire sheet.
I like Ginny Deerin and many of her ideas, but I prefer that our next mayor is one that did not move into the Charleston city limits within the last year, just to be eligible for the office.
Mt. Pleasant is the third most populated city in South Carolina with an estimated population of 75,000. In my opinion, it is not quaint or a town, but I do think that it can be described as coastal.
nofaith, thanks for taking the time to look up Uber's insurance. The few minutes of research you did disproved one of the city's key arguments against Uber. It seems as if an Uber driver actually has more insurance than any of the local taxi drivers, which actually shouldn't come as a surprise since Uber is valued at seventeen billion dollars.
I've used two of my four free Uber rides so far; the cars were cleaner, the
Uber drivers were more professional than most taxi drivers I've ridden with before, and the fares would have been about two thirds the cost of a taxi fare if I would have had to pay. If the local powers wish to use city resources to fight a global, multi-billion dollar company with a really good concept, so be it. I feel those resources could be used in a better manner.
This sounds like a great idea. I can't wait to try it out.
