Re: “Poe's Tavern

As a local Isle of Palms resident, I can attest to the fact that I have never experienced rude behavior from the bar staff, or the wait staff, or any other staff for that matter. The bartenders at Poe's are all very experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly to both locals and visotors alike. The food is great. You get exactly what you ask for. This is why people come from all over surrounding areas to see what the buzz is all about. I have never seen the bar staff acting "deplorable" to anyone. These bartenders are experienced and have the ability to execute service to volumes of people I have not seen anywhere else. Especially for such a small restaurant. What I can attest to is these bartenders are no push overs. I have seen them defend themselves endlessly against drunk after drunk. I have seen the female bartenders refuse to tolerate any form of harrassment from overbearing bar patrons. I have never seen them act deliberately rude to someone who didn't rightfully deserve it. So, if you are one of those people who expect to come in to a fully packed bar and get the undivided attention of the bar staff, stay home, or better yet, try hanging out at the VFW. You'll get plently of attention there. The bar staff does the best with what they have to work with. Obviously, if it is 97 degrees outside, the beer isn't going to pour out freezing cold. Common sense goes a long way. As a person who has frequented this bar several times a week for years, I suggest whining elsewhere. The bar staff is fine the way it is. We love you guys and since no one else tells you...you do one hell of a job!
