There is no explanation for the popularity this place seems to enjoy year round other than it just happens to be a convenient place to hang out or be seen. The bar service is absolutely deplorable as is the case at many "popular" establishments in the Charleston and Mount Pleasant areas. Apparently, most of the so called "bartenders" around town do not like interuptions from visiting patrons otherwise known as customers while they socialize with "their" friends and fellow employees. Poe's has some of the highest beer prices locally, yet even after enduring the apparent prerequisite waiting period to obtain one, not once has it ever been served cold as intended. Hot beer glasses direct from a dishwasher might prove more useful as a means of reheating an entree if one arrives at the table on the same or next day. Unless showing off a new outfit or sporty ride is the primary objective, simply avoid this inappropriately dubbed "tavern" and grill a hamburger or make tacos at home.
