My husband and I have had two previous good experiences with the Red Pepper in the past but our dinner this weekend was surely our last! It was a typical Charleston summer evening...um, week - HOT!! We had been looking forward to a nice dinner at the Red Pepper all week. We had settled in, ordered wine, salads, and our entree when we noticed that it seemed to be terribly warm. Once our entree arrived, we realized that we were going to struggle to eat - the restaurant was getting unbearably warmer. When I mentioned this to one of the wait staff I was told I should consider myself lucky because I was sitting near some small fan that was located towards the ceiling of the restaurant. When we asked to have our dinner wrapped up, I mentioned to our waitress that we were unable to enjoy our dinner due to the temperature in the restaurant. She said 'I wish you would tell the guy at the bar because they won't listen to us!'. So we did and he said that the problem was that someone had accidentally turned on the heat and they had just figured that out. We could tell he was coming up with an excuse as it was obvious that this was an ongoing issue. I won't pay this kind of money again for a meal that not only can I not enjoy but where the wait staff is inconsiderate of my comfort.
