I had to read this article twice to make sure Jack Hunter was not being sarcastic. But I think he actually wrote in praise of those 4 disgraceful elected officials.

Sanford looked like a 'deer in the headlights' because he is a dim bulb with a poor grasp of the issues and no business on the national stage. Sanford has definitely 'Peter Principled' out in the SC Governor's mansion. He has embarrassed the people of SC too many times and this was one of the worst. But at least he didn't end up splattered with pig excrement this time.

Jesse Helms was a redneck dinosaur who will go down in history with Strom Thurmond for being the epitome of an uber-cracker.

John Graham Altman's poor judgment is only exceeded by his willingness to say anything, however embarrassing or outrageous, to get a mention in the local press.

Larry (Quaddo) Campbell was a deadbeat father, a doper, a rabble-rouser and an embarrassment to his constituents. He was also completely ineffective as an elected official - he failed to deliver anything real for his constituents.

My, what admirable qualities all around.

I bet Jack Hunter also thinks Lauren Caitlin Upton - Miss South Carolina Teen USA - is a smart, studious young woman who got unfairly depicted just like Sanford. Maybe he can make feeble excuses for her in his next piece.
