If we had half of that presence on Folly Beach for the 4th of July, we would not be where we are today.
Thanks for the idea, but we already have had the muck of Charleston Harbor/Navy Yard dumped nearby. It's called Morris Island and the SPA could not care less about fixing the eroding dikes that hold back the 700 acre dredge spoil.
The CCPRC needs to get out there and clean up the septic tanks and other mess left out there at the park. It's dangerous and just adds to the eroison problem. Plus it's on the beach which is public property. They have had plenty of time to clean it up. I dare say more than any homeowner would have had if their house had fallen down.
I'm counting 4 nobodies that want the road compared to the thousands that do not. Put a fork in it.
Why do you have to drive "several miles"?? You have at least six grocery stores within easy reach. What's the attraction of a Walmart? Don't drive, support James Island business's. If you want a Walmart or Costco in your backyard move to West Ashley. I'm glad Amy and others are trying to protect James Island from over development.
Re: “Abstinence-only preserved in Charleston schools”
I'm confused as to who is the chairperson of the Health Advisory Committee. The article mentions Chairwoman Deborah Miller.
"Chairwoman Deborah Miller says Heritage's materials don't meet state and federal standards, don't address the risks and benefits of contraception, provide inaccurate information, and reveal a bias against single parents and divorced families."
In today's P&C someone named Al Schirduan wrote an extreme pro-abstinence letter to the editor and he claims to be the Chairperson. I confirmed that by a call to the CCSB.
Does anyone have a list of the members? It's disturbing to me that someone like Mr. Schirduan could hold such a position. He is clearly biased. Who's who?
