Re: “If only the tacos were as good as the margaritas

Tried Scratch for the 2nd time tonight and I can honestly say, it's a different place. Totally new menu, new chef, complete turn around. The tacos were awesome and full of flavor (agree that back in Dec that was not the case, but now it is). Blackened chicken and pesto taco was fantastic. Gluten free and veggie options are a nice add. Great happy hour specials. Really pleased to see they turned it around!

Re: “First Look: Black Tap Coffee gives Beaufain a caffeine kick

I've popped into Black Top a few times and will definitely be going back. Great, open space with tons of natural light. Plenty of hot and cold options. Homemade flavor syrups and plenty of milk varieties for those that are dairy intolerant or just like mixing it up. Only real con is lack of parking but it's downtown so that's to be expected. More reason to ride our bikes!

Re: “Quick Bites: Hom Burger Boutique & Ping Pong Lounge

Great place for a drink and ping pong but agree with all the comments around price and value. Of all the new burger joins, Big Gun Burger is the only who seems to have it right on this thread. This town is full of great burgers at places like High Cotton, Rue de Jean, Carolina's, Poe's, etc. And most of those burgers are adult sized.

Re: “Big Gun Burger Shop

Had dinner at Big Gun this evening and it was delicious. My husband had the chili burger and I had the veggie burger. Both were very well done. I'm psyched to have finally found a good veggie burger in Chucktown. The fried kale on top was a nice touch. Hands down the best fries I've had in quite some time. I think the seasoning was a combo of Old Bay and something else that gave it a nice kick but not overly spicy.

Bottom line, a great "hole in the wall" burger joint with quality food and affordable prices. Also, props to the team on the cohesiveness with your brand from signage, to ambiance, music, etc. I get what you're going for and we're down.

Re: “Octobachi slings pho, sushi, hibachi on Spring

Happened upon this great little neighborhood joint which is a nice addition for those living north of Calhoun and near the Crosstown. Food was well executed and the ambiance was a nice mix of urban, clean, and cozy. The service was a little below average. Our waitress was pulled thin between the tables and the bar and as such we waited way too long for our beers and ended up with the wrong dessert. That said, I think it's worth a try and we'll definitely be back.
