Re: “Stavrinakis plays politics with the Order of the Palmetto

I saw it not so much as a slam on Haley denying Schweers as a criticism that Staley's accomplishments were less deserving. As you said, Staley's ties to SC are tenuous at best, and it's not like she's bringing home banners for the team. As far as I can tell, she's just a better than average basketball coach who used to be a great player and who happens to live/work in South Carolina until she gets offered a better gig somewhere else.

I don't know how long Schweers has been at Ashley Hall or what she did before that, but if I had to pick one of these women an award of any kind (ok, one that's not directly connected to sports) I wouldn't hesitate to pick Schweers over Staley.

Re: “No Chipotle for Mount Pleasant

Moe's Southwest has a couple spots in Mt. P., and they're pretty decent, but it's still not Chipotle. Seems like someone would try to put one downtown on King Street in the vicinity of the College -- restaurants open and close there all the time and I would think it would do a pretty brisk business from students, locals, and tourists.

If you're curious about what Ashley actually looks like, take a look at his ad (see if you can spot the differences): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7D43wRgCOpQ
