Re: “Angel Oak Restaurant

The best food I have tasted in Charleston, for a decent price, wonderful service and ambiance. Love this place ! The staff are all pleasant, informative and eager to be helpful. Food comes out fast, is hot and obviously well made. Quality local ingredients are very apparent and the menu is perfect. I have no complaints whatsoever !

Re: “The recent sexual assault allegation highlights the need for change

Great article ! The blame has always been on the raped, never the raper and it is high time that changes. I would like to see a regular article, every week on women's rights regarding rape, laws, discrimination, etc., as they pertain to us all but most particularly to the young men and women in the downtown (greatest city on earth where the woman gets punished and the punks go free to do it again), area.

Re: “Gitmo detainees could be relocated to Charleston brig

The sad thing about the NAVCON brig in Charleston is that it is financially one of the largest waste areas of our tax dollars in operation today. MOST of the young men serving time there, are there for smoking a joint or flipping off their superior officer or trying to get out of the military. ALL are offenses, but not even close to worthy of the security force and funding needed to house them in a military prison such as this one. There is a HUGELY over staffed, maximum security area for detainees such as GITMO houses THAT IS 99% EMPTY, except for ONE MAN, but HAS A FULL HIGHLY PAID STAFF 24 HOURS A DAY and two floors of unoccupied housing that has been that way for years! Having been in it and done work on it FOR YEARS NOW,and witnessed the lack of anything that makes sense going on there, I say: make use of it and the hundreds of military who "work" there (Ah relaxing shore duty on our dime......), who sit on their butts and attend meeting after meeting, getting little to no work done, just to justify MORE MILITARY OVERSPENDING. GITMO is nothing but a place to keep our war behaviors a little more hidden from the public. If we are going to detain them, then we need to own it. Period. Lindsey Graham does NOT SPEAK FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. HE SPEAKS FOR THE TOP TWO PERCENT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. WITNESS HIS VOTE ON WHO GETS TO PAY TAXES AND WHO DOES NOT.

Re: “Lindsey Graham to face primary challenge from Libertarian fusion candidate

Could not come at a better time. I will investigate and watch this new Libertarian/Republican closely for any opportunity to displace Lindsey Graham. Get rid of the republican old guard, woman and minority haters all of em, judging from their actions. Bought and paid for lawyers for the top two percent. Standing their ground to make sure their employers, the rich guys, do not have to pay.

Wonder why it is that when the rich have to pay their taxes, it is a Communist act according to Republicans. But when the poor have to pay, it is a patriotic thing to do ?

Re: “We must stand up to the Right's voter suppression efforts

After working all of my life, raising a child on my own and never asking for anything, I became injured and could not work. I had no health insurance because I could never afford it. Within months I was evicted and if not for friends and foodstamps would never have made it. I guess I was one of those drains on society that do not deserve to vote or breathe for that matter. Watch yourselves. You have no idea how fast life can throw you a curve that you cannot handle. I learned more about poverty in three years than I ever wanted to. I am back to work now and able to drop the foodstamps and pay my own way again. Without these programs, people like me would be living under the bridge. People who judge those on public assistance, need to be in a position to be on it themselves just once, to get over the stupid blind thinking about it. The programs need better oversight, but are there for a reason.

Re: “We must stand up to the Right's voter suppression efforts

Funny how the states who show the most support for Romney are also coincidentally the ones whose education levels are far behind the rest of the country. Those whose populations cannot speak without saying the F word, for example, even in a public forum. Assuming that all people who support Obama are rich is further proof of your ignorance and absolute proof that there should be brain cell checks before giving out voter registration cards. If coal keeps you employed well then the hell with the environment........sounds like a republican to me !
