Before I spoke to comedian Sara Schaefer, I watched one of her childhood home videos. I'm not creepy or anything, because anyone can see it — it's on her website, part of a stand-up routine. But still, it made me feel like I kind of knew her. Like we could be friends.

New pub on the block

Try saying Biggie's AcrossTown Southern Gastro Pub five times fast. It may be a mouthful, but it'll soon become part of the Charleston bar vernacular. The new pub recently opened at the old Granville's Cafe location at Rutledge and Grove, and we stopped by the grand opening on Thursday night to check it out.

Charleston celebrates it on Nov. 12 with the Lowcountry's first ever macaroni and cheese cook-off. Dubbed the Mac-Off, the competition features more than a dozen local restaurants battling for the title of Charleston's Best Macaroni and Cheese.
