Irvin-House Vineyards and Firefly Distillery is a scenic spot on 48 acres of green land on Wadmalaw, replete with a handsome tasting room, renovated party barn, and colorful flower and vegetable garden. The self-sustaining winery uses homegrown muscadine grapes in their five varieties of wine (Tara Gold, Magnolia, Live Oak Reserve, Mullet Hall, and Palmetto). Bottle labels are made by local artists. Their Firefly Sweet Tea vodkas and bourbons are infused with fresh tea from the neighboring Charleston Tea Plantation and blended with real Louisiana sugar cane. The entire operation is a uniquely Lowcountry entity. —T. Ballard Lesemann
