Rett and Bonnie King’s farm-to-table market is situated smack dab in the middle of their farm field, stocked with diverse products made from their crops. Customers flock to the store for South Carolina specialty items like pralines, grits, and big tables piled with fresh vegetables. Their u-pick strawberry field is a popular attraction, but they also have plenty of fresh asparagus, lettuce, squash, tomatoes, cantaloupes, and watermelon. “You name it, we’ll have it,” Bonnie says. They also have a Department of Health-regulated kitchen on the premises which produces fresh Key lime pie, cakes, casseroles, and most recently, homemade churned ice cream. The ice cream is made with seasonal produce — springtime flavors include strawberry, Key lime pie, and chocolate, but expect more berry flavors as the season continues. And don’t forget to stop in the garden shop to pick up some freshly cut flowers.
