About halfway between Main and Maybank on River Road, this humble, tented produce stand popped up in the spring of 2011. Carroll O’Neal splits his 30-acre Irish Farms between Black Angus cattle and produce. The veggies are sold exclusively at the unattended honor-system stand, where farm brown eggs are also available year-round. Cukes and tomatoes are two for a dollar, or the same buck gets you six squash, and they now offer warm, green boiled peanuts. O’Neal says he’s been pleased with how well his honor box has worked (it reads, “No change. Make checks payable to J.C. O’Neal”), adding that a few cooks from Kiawah restaurants have even dropped in on their way to work.
