During the summer blueberry season, this sustainable farm welcomes the public to come by and pick their own blueberries from their 2,000 plants. The blueberries typically ripen a little earlier than u-pick season, though, and when they do, the crew at Blue Pearl brings them out to sell at markets around the Charleston area. They teach fly fishing to individuals and groups, and they continue to sell honey and frozen blueberries ($7.50/pound) at the music events they host. Blueberry Jams, held the third Sunday of every month, have folks gathering on Cypress Pond from 3-7 p.m. for live music from folks like Dangermuffin, Sarah Cole, and Danielle Howle. The newly built 28-foot stage attracts crowds of 250 to 400 with grandmothers and children mingling in the fresh air and late afternoon light. June 24 is the Blueberry Festival, which represents the beginning of the picking season. Lindsey Moore
