You'll be hard pressed to find a cheerier staff than the ladies at Silva Spoon. They'll greet you with a smile and a laugh. And if there's a day of the week you need to swing by this Rivers Avenue stop, it's Thursday when the ladies are dishing out oxtail — the one dish that some might say that all soul food joints should be judged by — plus curry chicken and jerk chicken, which is sweeter and slicker than the rubs many are used to. Then again, Thursday may not be the best day to swing by. Perhaps it's Friday, when the gang is serving deep-fried ribs, a dish that we are intrigued by but have yet to try. Silva Spoon also has the standard assortment of sides — mac 'n' cheese, sweet peas, white rice, corn — but the boiled cabbage, a peppery, belly-warming concoction, is particularly tasty. —Chris Haire, Dish (Summer 2012)
